Oilybroyz
I collaborated with Harry Thompson to create ten original animated loops. The goal for this project was to explore a creative feedback system cycling between visual improvisations and musical reactions. Harry sent me animations, I responded with sound. It functioned as a creative outlet for us to work together through our artistic pursuits. He developed all the animations, and I composed all the music and sound.
For the design, my aim was to establish a connective tissue for each miniature environment. To achieve that effect, I limited my instrumentation to encourage uniformity and deeper experimentation.
I developed mini-sonic narratives to highlight the expressive movements of each character. Each composition was made through a combination of sounds I created using a Yamaha Reface CS and a small selection of modular synths. These were all tracked into ProTools. Most additions were made through touch and feeling with few edits made in post.
